It’s National Pediatric Transplant week

NATIONAL (WOAY)- This week is national pediatric transplant week during Donate Life Month!

Pediatric transplant week is celebrated every year during the last full week of April. This week focuses on the powerful message of ending the pediatric transplant waiting list.

Throughout this week, stories of both candidates and recipients are shared… We honor donor families whose children have been saved through organ eye and tissue donation, and recipient families share their thanks and milestone celebrations.

According to Donate Life America, nearly 124,000 people in the U.S. are currently waiting for some sort of organ transplant.

Donate life month honors them, the lives of over a million recipients, the families who said yes to donating their loved one’s organs in a time of grief, and the more than 170 million people who have registered to be a donor.
