NATIONAL (WOAY)- As we start off the month of April, Donate Life America leads National Donate Life Month each April.
This observance focuses national attention on the need for and importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation. More than 100,000 patients are waiting for transplants for various reasons.
This month honors them, the lives of over a million recipients, the families who said yes to donating their loved one’s organs in a time of grief, and the more than 170 million people registered to be donors.
Throughout April, there are specific days/weeks to honor those whose lives are affected by organ donation.
April 3rd is Living Donor Day.
April 6th-12th is Blue and Green Spirit Week, with the 12th being Blue and Green Day.
April 21st-27th is National Pediatric Transplant Week.
