Illinois man pleaded guilty to conspiracy to introduce contraband into a federal prison

Oak Hill, WV (WOAY) – An Illinois man pleaded guilty Monday to conspiracy to introduce contraband into a federal prison.

Court documents state that on February 1, 2024, 22-year-old Miguel Angel Aleman-Piceno went to the fence at FCI McDowell with a backpack and a duffle bag with a drone and camouflaged packages. These packages had 4 cell phones, chargers, phone cards, marijuana, and tobacco. Aleman-Piceno confirmed that he and his co-defendant, Francisco Alejandro Gonzalez, planned to fly the stuff in with the drones. They were stopped by law enforcement as they prepared the drone.

Aleman-Piceno stated that he thought he would get paid 3 thousand dollars to deliver these packages.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on September 8, 2025, and faces a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison, 3 years supervised release, and a $250,000 fine.
