Haven’t you heard? Summer is making a bold entrance, and it’s coming in hot! Southern West Virginia is in for a steamy stretch of weather, with temperatures running about 10 degrees above average each day this week. Many towns will be flirting with or even surpassing 90 degrees—and that’s just the air temperature!
Each day, we’re looking at moderate humidity, which will make feels-like temps in the triple digits at times, making for some pretty uncomfortable afternoons. This is shaping up to be one of the hottest weeks of the year so far, and record highs aren’t out of the question for some spots.
So besides the heat, what else is in the forecast? Honestly… not much. It’s going to be a sweaty and mostly dry week. While one model hints at the possibility of rain on Wednesday, confidence is low. Our next real shot at rain looks to arrive Friday into Saturday, but there’s low confidence there too.
In the meantime, take heat precautions seriously—stay hydrated, take breaks in the shade, and never leave kids or pets in vehicles. We’ll be keeping an eye on any pattern shifts, so be sure to stay updated with us right here on WOAY.com.
