BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Hollywood Elementary School was among the Raleigh County Schools to have students back in-person for the first day today.
While around 3,400 students across the county opted for 100% virtual learning, Hollywood Elementary has almost 75% of its students in-person. Its being very strict in terms of allowing as few people as possible into the building during the school day.
“Everybody’s just excited,” said Hollywood Elementary School Principal Tamber Hodges. “We were talking this morning, we’ve waited for six months for today. The anxiety and the excitement has been building for about the last week, but you could feel the buzz this morning as teachers were arriving. Today’s finally here, and we’re ready to see our students.”
Hodges estimates that each class has between 8-12 students in-person each day.
