Greenbrier County School Board asked to modify its current back-to-school plan

LEWISBURG, WV (WOAY) – Greenbrier County School Board held its regular monthly meeting this afternoon to discuss the agenda for the 2020-21 fiscal school year.

A representative from Greenbrier County Education Association asked the board to modify the current plan in place to 50 percent reduction in class sizes or complete remote instruction.

“We urged the board to consider a model of instruction that does not, to protect our children, actually anchors the risk for all. According to the published reports by the American Academy of Pediatrics and Children Hospital Association, more than 97,000 children in the US tested positive for the coronavirus in the last two weeks in July,” said GCEA Representative Allyson Carr.

The next board meeting will be on September 8th.
