Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management warns residents about flooding potential in the area

Greenbrier County, WV (WOAY)—The Greenbrier County Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department is remaining vigilant about flooding potential in the area.

The department has been communicating with the US National Weather Service in Blacksburg, VA, about flooding in the Greenbrier River.

There is a high probability the river could flood Sunday leading into Monday.

The department does not want residents to panic, but advises all property owners living in and around the floodplain to secure or move their belongings as soon as possible and develop an evacuation plan in case of emergency.

Residents who own towed campers along the river are advised to move them from the floodplain as soon as possible.

Cities near the floodplain include Renick, Caldwell, Ronceverte, Alderson, and Hinton.

The department’s emergency management plans are in place, and they will release information on shelters, food, and cleaning supplies when necessary.
