WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Fog has been draped over the region this morning, which may complicate the morning commute. The densest fog will be in the valleys, but fog will form in patches across the rest of the viewing area. If you end up driving through the fog, be sure to slow down and have your low beams on until you are completely out of the fog. Along with the fog, temperatures are much cooler than they were yesterday morning. These two elements are making it feel more like a mid-September morning.
The fog will lift later this morning to reveal mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will also rise quickly, reaching the mid-70s this afternoon. Conditions will be warmer, but remain comfortable. Today is the best day to head outside and enjoy over the next week due to the warm but not hot temperatures and mostly sunny skies. Sun protection and plenty of water are still needed for those staying outside for an extended period as the UV rating will reach 9.5 today. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest:
Tomorrow will be another great day with temperatures warming up a bit. Most places will break 80 degrees in the afternoon, getting us back to average temperatures for this time of the year. However, the nicer weather will not last for much longer. A low-pressure system will approach the area on Friday, bringing showers and storms during the afternoon and evening. This incoming front is trending on the weaker side, especially compared to the last few rounds of weather. This should result in some beneficial rainfall and a general thunderstorm risk for our area. We are keeping an eye on Friday afternoon just in case, but activity afterwards should be manageable.
Rainy conditions will continue for the majority of the weekend. Saturday carries a 70% chance of rain through the day as the low-pressure system slowly passes by. Storms will likely stay weak thanks to the continuing activity overnight and into the morning. Rain continues for a little while on Sunday, but will become more scattered and eventually dissipates in the afternoon. After this round of rain leaves, a ridge of warm air will bring stable weather and hotter temperatures.
