We are seeing a mix of sun and clouds again around the region today. The clouds don’t have any showers with them; those are confined to areas off to our east. But they are still associated with the persistent low off the Virginia coast that has been throwing moisture towards the region for a few days now.

Temperatures today have been in the lower to middle 70s, pretty close to the normal. Tonight, we’ll see lows in the lower to middle 50s as skies clear out as the low pushes off to the northeast, weakening as it does so.

Tomorrow will be a nice day as high pressure remains in charge. Highs will begin a gradual warm-up and will wind up around 80 degrees in most areas outside of the highest elevations. The warm weather will last through the rest of the extended forecast, including for both our Fabulous Football Friday and the beginning of the weekend. On Sunday, a small chance for a shower comes into the forecast as the ridge of high pressure breaks down, and a few afternoon showers could pop up.

Much better rain chances are in the forecast beginning Monday as a low-pressure center passes to the north and drags a cool front through the area. There isn’t much moisture for the front to work with, so the chances for showers and the amounts of rain from any shower that pops up will both be small.

Despite the extra cloud cover, highs will still be in the upper 70s to nearly 80 degrees. Lows will be in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. Both are a shade above the normal. Just beyond the extended forecast, much more active weather is being hinted at by the long-range models, but it’s a long way out. We’ll be tracking it for you as always.
