Charleston, WV (WOAY) – Gov. Patrick Morrisey has signed a 5% income tax cut into law, with the reduction set to take effect in June.
Morrisey had pushed for a 10% cut, and his proposed budget reflected that figure. He indicated a desire to work with the legislature to achieve the remaining 5% reduction.
Lawmakers ultimately settled on the smaller cut following debate over whether the state could absorb a 10% reduction.
