Gloomy and Rainy Week Ahead

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Some scattered showers are dissipating in the region, but more will pop up today and cloudy skies will persist. The system bringing this rain is primarily to our south, passing through the deep south and eventually the Carolinas. This trend likely drops the most rainfall in the southern coalfields today and tomorrow. Cooler temperatures, cloudy skies, and rainy weather will last through not just today, but for the rest of the work week until Friday evening. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:

The next low-pressure system will pass through the Midwest before dropping rain in our region Wednesday and Thursday. This system will bring widespread showers that will drop heavier rain across the region. This rainfall will be beneficial for the region as we continue to slowly get out of the late summer drought, though some areas may be affected with pounding of water. Areas in the southern coalfields will see rainfall totals exceeding an inch and a half in some places, while most of the region gets more than three-quarters of an inch of rain from today through Wednesday.

Thursday will continue the rainy trend as the low-pressure system continues to push through our region. Showers will gradually dissipate through the day, leaving Friday with a 30% chance of rain in the morning and early afternoon before finally drying up in the evening. While the ground will be damp and the region will be cool, there won’t be much rain left to fall on Fabulous Football Friday. The weekend is looking better with partly sunny skies across the board.
