West Virginia (WOAY) High school students in southern West Virginia will have an opportunity to explore science and technology this summer through a special camp at West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech).
The GEAR UP Southern West Virginia (GEAR UP SWV) WVU Tech STEM Camp will run June 29 through July 1 and is designed as an immersive environmental science overnight experience.
Students will stay in WVU Tech dorms, with meals included during the three-day, two-night program.
Organizers say the camp is open to all ninth and tenth-grade students and focuses on building curiosity, hands-on skills, and excitement for future STEM opportunities.
Students may also be able to receive financial help through the GEAR UP Southern West Virginia Summer Camp Grant Program, which can cover up to five hundred dollars toward approved camps.
Applications for that grant open on March 9 and run through May 22.
Space for the STEM camp is limited, and organizers encourage students and families to register early for the opportunity.
