West Virginia (WOAY)-Gas prices in West Virginia are on the rise this week.
According to GasBuddy, the state’s average price jumped nearly fourteen cents a gallon, now sitting at $3.03.
That’s eight cents higher than a month ago, and about three cents more than this time last year.
The survey found prices across the state ranging widely, from as low as $2.54 to as high as $5.65 per gallon.
Nationwide, gas prices also ticked up slightly, the average now at $3.00.
Diesel prices are up nearly five cents this week, averaging $3.64 per gallon.
Gasbuddy analyst Patrick De Haan says a refinery fire in the Midwest drove up prices in that region, but relief could be on the way as supplies stabilize.
In nearby areas, Charleston drivers are paying about $3.13, while Pittsburgh averages
$3.40, and Virginia drivers are seeing $2.84
