West Virginia (WOAY) Gas prices are on the rise across West Virginia, and experts say drivers could soon be paying even more at the pump.
According to GasBuddy, the average price for a gallon of gas in the Mountain State has jumped nearly 16 cents in just the past week, now sitting at $3.97 a gallon.
That’s more than 60 cents higher than a month ago and nearly 86 cents higher than this time last year.
Across the country, the national average is also climbing, up nearly 12 cents this week to just over $4.00 a gallon.
Diesel prices are seeing an even sharper increase, rising more than 20 cents to $5.57 per gallon.
Here at home, prices vary widely depending on where you fill up.
The cheapest gas in West Virginia was reported at $3.29 a gallon, while the most expensive reached $4.23, a difference of nearly a dollar.
Taking a look at nearby areas, drivers in Pittsburgh are paying around $4.17 a gallon, Charleston is just under $4.00 dollars, and Virginia is averaging just over $4.06.
Industry analysts say the increases may not be over yet.
GasBuddy warns prices could climb into the $4.20 to $4.35 range nationwide in the coming days, as higher wholesale costs continue to trickle down to consumers.
Rising global tensions and concerns about oil supply disruptions are also adding pressure, keeping the outlook for fuel prices uncertain in the weeks ahead.
