Fundraiser underway to purchase headstone in honor of 16 year old Shayln Harvey

Big Chimney, WV (WOAY) The community is invited to come together to honor the memory of a Kanawha County teenager whose death rattled the state.

A fundraiser is now underway to help purchase a headstone for 16-year-old Shayln Harvey.

The fundraiser organizer and Shayln’s great-aunt, Sherry Harvey, says every donation will help provide a lasting memorial for the teen, whose remains were found in May after she had been reported missing.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office confirmed an autopsy identified the remains as Harvey’s.

The cause of Harvey’s death remains under investigation by the West Virginia State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Donations for the headstone can be made at any People’s Bank location in West Virginia in the name of Sherry Harvey.

Donors can also give through Venmo and PayPal.
