Free outdoor activities program set to begin Wednesday in Fayette County

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – Adventure Days at the Fayette County Park is set to begin on Wednesday.

This is a free activities program that will take place every Wednesday this month for kids ages 10 and up.

Adventure Fayette County in partnership with groups like Active Southern West Virginia Coda Mountain Academy, New River Health, the Fayette Prevention Coalition alongside river outfitters like Mountain Surf Paddle Sports, River Expeditions and New River Association of Climbers will be bringing the outdoor activities to the park like paddling, disc golf, climbing and arts and crafts for the kids to enjoy.

Aleah Denny is a volunteer and says the overall goal is to give the teens and tweens in the community something positive and healthy to do.

“And so this is part of the overall ICE collaborative and that collaborative really focuses on getting kids interested in something else other than getting into trouble and getting into drug abuse when they’re older,” Denny said.

It will start at 10 a.m. every Wednesday in the park and last until 1 p.m.

Parents or caregivers must be present and are encouraged to be there for check-in at 9:45. Lunch will be provided.
