Fire Risk Increases This Week; Mandatory Water Conservation Issued

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The drought plus dry, warm weather and breezy to gusty winds will fuel a heightened fire risk for the second half of the week.

The dry pattern will continue unabated through early next week. The fire danger will remain high. There is limited upside risk to a tropical storm coming up the East Coast next week, but any rain would stay east of our area.

JUST IN: The city Richwood issued a mandatory emergency water conservation since it is now tapping into water form Summit Lake due to the ongoing drought. Residents are not permitted to water anything that exceeds three gallons. Water can only be served at restaurants if requested. Washing vehicles and streets is not permitted and residents are asked to limit laundry, dishwater use and check for leaks around the house.
