FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – The Town of Fayetteville is putting up flags around town to honor local veterans.
The flags are ordered from citizens and they each showcase one of their family members who served in the armed forces. Zenda Vance, the town recorder, says the idea is to honor veterans while also raising money for the community.
“We have a lot of veterans in our town, and there’s a lot of veterans throughout the whole state of West Virginia. And my husband was in the military and so was my dad. And it’s just a way of honoring them,” Vance said.
The flags will stay up until the end of May, with more being put up later in November for Veterans Day.
