Fayetteville PK-8 celebrates their first eighth grade class with ‘One Last Night Under the Lights’

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY) – The very first eighth grade graduating class from Fayetteville PK-8 was honored with a drive-through celebration on Friday night.

They called it “One Last Night Under the Lights.” Students and their families drove around the football field, many in decorated cars, to then be greeted by teachers and staff and get their certificate.

Although this has been a challenging year, Principal Melissa Harrah says the hope is that this eighth grade class is headed to high school with a newfound sense of resiliency.

“Resilience is a great quality to have. You know, we really just hope that our kids take that spirit of resilience and learn and grow from it, and I think that they’ve done that,” she said.

Harrah went on to say that the students had a great year as the football team won the county championship and that the new school had success in both academics and athletics.
