Fayette County, WV (WOAY) – The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death in the Lick Fork Road area.
According to Sheriff McMullen, a deceased man was found under a power line right away. He was identified as Jimmy D. Smith.
Fayette County 911 received an initial report that indicated that Smith went missing after being dropped off along Paint Creek Road to look for mushrooms.
The Sheriff’s Department deployed a drone and found him in the power line right-of-way.
Following a preliminary investigation, deputies believe he may have been trying to cut transmission lines.
The incident is still under investigation.
