WOAY – As of 9 p.m. Saturday night, Fayette County found itself in the orange phase of the county alert system, according to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources website. During this phase, counties are not allowed to participate in sporting events. However, teams can continue practicing.
Therefore high school football games scheduled for September 4th, such as Oak Hill at Westside, Midland Trail at Tolsia and Richwood at Meadow Bridge, can not be played.
On Friday, Wyoming County was also in the orange phase. But after an update Saturday night, the county was back in yellow, meaning area teams can participate in games this week. Therefore, it appears as though the Mingo Central at Wyoming East football game can go on as scheduled.
