RALEIGH COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – It’s hard to believe another year has passed and we quietly welcomed 2025.
What will that bring and what are people hoping for?
I stopped at the new Beckley Travel Plaza to find out what visitors to the area were up to on New Year’s Eve and beyond.
On this dawn of the new year comes the opportunity for change and reflecting on self-improvement.
“We’re headed to North Carolina. Just got engaged about three days ago,” Wadsworth, Ohio resident Daniel Ruff said he and his fiance’s plans include two weddings and starting their life together. “One here, one in Mexico. Then find a job somewhere in the mountains, hopefully.”
Young stage actor Brennan Schulda planned to ring in 2025 at a family friend’s party as he contemplated the new year.
“We just got done visiting some family from Virginia; we’re returning to our house,” said Schulda, of Munroe Falls, Ohio, adding that he wants to go to the gym more in 2025 and eat less junk food.
Jessica Lee and her kids were heading back to Richmond, Virginia after checking on her father-in-law going through chemo in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She says they weren’t doing much for New Year’s since they’ve been traveling.
“We’ll probably just hang out at the house — we haven’t been there for about a week,” said Lee. “As far as New Year’s resolutions go, I hope this year I can maybe do more stuff with friends and not take things so hard all the time, and wear the weight of the world on my shoulders.”
Wishing everyone positivity, hope, and endless possibilities in 2025.
“Happy New Year guys,” Schulda said.
