Rain has fallen across Southern West Virginia tonight, which is a very good thing given the drought we are under. More rain is possible as we head into the week as a system looks to move through on Wednesday. More widespread rain is likely into next weekend as we watch the potential for another big system.
Some snow flurries are possible in the higher terrain of Southern West Virginia on Monday morning, but accumulation isn’t likely.

The drought monitor came out last Thursday, and shows a large area of West Virginia covered in moderate drought, with even severe drought starting to move into Tazewell County, VA. The rain this week into the weekend will definitely help to keep it at bay, but with rain totals right now projected to be less than an inch, it won’t totally alleviate it.
Now, as we take a look at the full 7 day forecast, you can see we get fairly chilly early week with temperatures dropping just below freezing for some, leading to the possibility of the snow flurries on Monday. This cool down is very short lived as we start approaching 80 yet again as we head toward late week. Some rain is possible during the week, but again, our most likely rain chance appears to be heading into next weekend with a bigger system on the horizon.
