FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY)- One man is dead after striking a police officer with a machete at the Fayette Hills apartments in Fayetteville this afternoon.
Fayetteville Police Department and the sheriff’s office were executing a warrant when the subject fled into his apartment. Immediately after entering, he came back outside with the machete and started swinging at an officer.
Police tried ordering him to drop the weapon, and one even used a taser on him. The subject then hit an officer with the machete and started moving towards the other officers, swinging it.
This resulted in deputies firing at him, killing him at the scene. The West Virginia State Police is currently investigating. Newswatch will update you as we hear more.
