Dan Poland excited to move to administrative role

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – Following Tuesday’s Fayette County Board of Education meeting, Dan Poland will move into an assistant principal position at Oak Hill High School.

Per Fayette County rules, that means Poland has resigned as head baseball coach and assistant football coach ahead of the coming school year.

Poland took over as Red Devils head coach in 2017, and helped the team build success on the diamond over the past several years. Oak Hill won the Region 3 Section 1 title in 2019, and were anticipating another deep postseason run in 2020 prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Poland, who was also the head baseball coach at Fayetteville High School from 2010-2016, says he is thankful for the relationships formed with players and coaches over the years. He still plans to attend Red Devil games in his new role, noting how communities in the county are close with one another. Poland also discusses what it would mean to have students be able to return to in-person classes next year.
