County commission, West Virginia American Water join motion to postpone evidentiary meeting on sale of Fayette PSDs

KANAWHA FALLS, WV (WOAY) – The Fayette County Commission and West Virginia American Water have signed onto a Public Service Commission legal staff motion to reschedule a hearing on the potential sale of several Fayette County public service districts.

The hearing is currently scheduled for March 27. The motion does not propose a make-up date.

The filing states that the Fayette County Commission is considering how to handle the resignation of a board member on the Kanawha Falls Public Service District.

“Staff has been authorized by West Virginia-American Water Company’s counsel and the Fayette County Commission’s counsel to state their clients do not object to this motion. Given how quickly this issue arose, and the need for parties who have witnesses traveling to know whether the hearing will take place on March 27, 2026, Legal Staff has not taken the time to confirm whether any of the other parties objection to Staff’s motion,” the filing reads.

According to Kanawha Falls Public Service District Board Chairman Jonathan Grose, the board member who resigned is Dan Hill.

“Dan Hill resigned from Kanawha Falls PSD due to personal obligations and wanting to spend more time with his grandchildren. We appreciate the time and commitment that Dan has given to Kanawha Falls PSD and we know that he will be a source that we could call on in times of trouble,” Grose said in a brief statement to Newswatch.

The Public Service Commission has not yet ruled on the motion.
