WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today will start with another cool morning, and most of the region will remain in the mid- to upper-30s until late this morning. A Freeze Warning is in effect for western Fayette, McDowell, western Nicholas, southeastern Pocahontas, western Raleigh, and Wyoming counties until 10 AM this morning.
Temperatures will warm up a little, but most will stay in the lower-50s this afternoon. Your sweaters and other layers will be useful through the entire day despite mostly sunny skies. Cold air is remaining in the region for another night, and temperatures will drop into the upper 20s again tonight. For those with sensitive plants, plan to have them protected again tonight. I would not be surprised if we have another Freeze Warning issued tonight for these low morning temperatures. Thankfully, we start to steadily warm up after tomorrow’s chilly morning.
The rest of the week will feature dry conditions and warming temperatures. This trend will lead to nicer days but an increased fire risk. Please be sure to mind the seasonal burn ban and to dispose of flammable objects, such as cigarette butts, properly. The fire risk will only get worse as we stay dry. The next rain chance is on Saturday, but it will yield only a few drizzles if those showers make it into the region. After this small chance of rain, we stay dry for the rest of the weekend and into the beginning of next week. For those warm weather lovers, this weekend and Monday of next week will be a treat! Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
