Athens, WV (WOAY) – Concord University’s theatre program is presenting its latest production this week, a live, band-backed musical comedy called “Firebringer” at the H.C. Paul Black Box Theatre in Athens.
The show features an entirely student-led cast and crew, spanning performance, design, and technical production. The university notes some humor and language may not be suitable for younger audiences.
The production marks the Concord directorial debut of Jason Lockart, founder and former president of WVCollective, who has directed multiple productions in the Beckley area. Lockart joined the university after several years of regional creative work.
