Community leaders held solidarity protest in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG, WV (WOAY) – This evening, a group of locals held a Black Lives Matter solidarity protest in Lewisburg.

Over 200 people gathered in downtown to show their support. Community members and leaders spoke about equality and the importance of voting in this upcoming election. Rather than a protest, event organizers are calling this a Black Lives Matter celebration.

“I think that we’re all destroyed by the image of that man being held down and hearing him talk and say his last words is just unreal,” said event organizer, Celia Mclay.

The event ended at 8 pm.
