WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Temperatures this morning are more than 25 degrees colder than they were this time yesterday, making for a chilly start. Make sure to take some extra time to bundle up and warm up the car before you head to your destination. Temperatures will recover a bit this afternoon, but will only reach into the mid-50s for most of our area. Thankfully, winds will be calm and conditions will be sunny this afternoon, so it won’t be as bad as this morning. Despite the calm winds and cooler temperatures, there is an increased risk for brush fires this afternoon due to low humidity. These calm conditions will continue tomorrow and temperatures will improve further, making for a milder afternoon during the middle of the week. Unfortunately, all calm conditions come to and end. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the details:
Thursday starts off fine enough, but cloud cover increases and showers start to spread into the region later in the afternoon. These showers may also bring a few thunderstorms along for the ride. These showers and storms will be more scattered in nature. The evening commute will be impacted, but rain will dissipate after the sun sets and showers pass through. However, this is not the last of the active weather.
A cold front will start moving through the region Friday morning, bringing widespread showers and thunderstorms with it. Some storms could end up on the strong side, but the strongest storms are trending towards the Great Lakes. This front will last through most of the day and into the overnight hours, bringing consistent rainfall into the region. Flooding could become an issue in some vulnerable spots before things settle down, especially if they are hit with repeated downpours. Thankfully, high pressure will push the front out of our area by Saturday morning.

After the front moves on, temperatures will be much cooler for Saturday. The highs across our region will only reach into the mid-40s, so make sure you don’t put away the jackets quite yet. Temperatures will recover on Sunday, making for a better end to the weekend. Despite the cooler temperatures, sunshine will be plentiful this weekend. Clouds clear away on Saturday and Sunday remains sunny, making for a great weekend for outdoor plans once again. Monday shows a slight chance of rain, though most models keep our region dry for the start of next week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
