It is a cold and windy evening in the area. Temperatures are in the lower 20s in most areas, and with the wind, it feels like it’s in the single digits above and below zero.

That’s a full 35 degrees below where it was at this time yesterday!

There is some snow around as well, mainly in the northern areas. The snow isn’t heavy but will be persistent as the snow banding is setting up in the higher elevation locations.

It will last through the rest of the night and into the day tomorrow. Lows tonight will be in the mid-teens.

Tomorrow will be similar to today temperature-wise, but we’ll see the snow come to an end. By the time we are finished, some locations in Pocahontas, Greenbrier, and a small portion of Nicholas Counties will see as much as a half foot of snow. Other areas in those three counties, along with parts of Fayette County, will see 1-3″ while most of us will see somewhere between nothing at all and 1″.

Highs tomorrow will be in the middle 20s. Lows tomorrow night will also be similar to tonight, generally in the mid-teens. Winds will be high enough where, once again, wind chill values will be at or below zero.
After ending 2025 with a slight warmup and calm weather, we’ll start 2026 with more chances for snow as another disturbance makes its way into the region. That storm will be a quick hitter, but the snow associated with it will be more widespread compared to what we’re seeing at the moment.

Another storm expected to move through the region Friday and into Saturday will give us some chances for freezing rain early Saturday morning. By that point, temperatures will be on the upswing.
