Chilly today, more rain, snow and wind for midweek

Good morning, folks! Southern West Virginia is waking up to light snow flurries this morning. While the snow adds a wintry touch to the day, it won’t last long and is expected to taper off by 10 AM. After the snow fades, the region will dry out through the afternoon, giving us a temporary break from precipitation. Temperatures will remain chilly today, but we’ll see a slight warm-up over the next day or two before another cold and snowy system arrives midweek.

Tomorrow will start off dry and moderately warmer compared to the recent cold snaps. However, by Wednesday night, rain will move into the area, transitioning into snow as a cold air system sweeps through. Overnight into Thursday, this system will bring accumulating snow, with higher elevations possibly receiving 5-7 inches. Winds will pick up as well, adding to the cold and blustery conditions. By Thursday afternoon, the snow will taper off, and the region will begin to dry out. Friday looks calmer, with temperatures climbing as we head into the weekend.

Looking ahead to the weekend, another system is expected to bring rain to the area. While it won’t be as cold, it’s still a good idea to stay prepared for changing weather conditions. Bundle up, drive safely, and stay tuned to WOAY for the latest updates on this week’s weather. Stay warm, folks!
