Calmer Days Before a Snowy Friday

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Another gloomy start will be brightened up as the morning goes on thanks to decreasing cloud coverage. Mostly sunny skies return for a bit in the afternoon and evening, giving us one of the best days for the next week. Temperatures won’t be warmed up a bunch, but the sun will improve moods across the region. Unfortunately, the clouds will come back into the forecast on Thursday as a system misses us to the north. Despite that miss on Thursday, active weather will be returning to the forecast to end the week. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the forecast:

Snow and rain will impact the viewing area on Friday as a low-pressure system moves up into the region from the south. The southern coalfields will see the most activity, though the rest of the region will likely see snow and rain as well. Accumulation may get up to an inch with locally higher amounts possible, but the switch to rain in the afternoon will halt more buildup. The system will leave Friday night, though roads will be slick as residents travel. Travel with caution if you are driving through the day. The weekend will be drier but still gloomy as clouds stick around. Temperatures will take a bit of an uptick for the weekend, reaching 40 degrees on Sunday.

Monday and Tuesday will bring back chances of wintery weather. A small group of rain and snow showers may push through on Monday, while a low-pressure system moving through the Great Lakes on Tuesday could bring some weather into our area. However, chances are lower than Friday as models and sources are still disagreeing. We will keep our eyes on both Friday and the beginning of next week as the situation develops.
