Calmer Day Turns to Rainy and Stormy Conditions Ahead

WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Today has been wonderfully warm and sunny with temperatures into the 70s for most areas. Unfortunately, the path ahead is wetter and features some stronger storms in the area. Meteorologist Christian Boteler has the latest:

Tonight is the start of the rainy days ahead, with some on and off showers coming through the area. The main times of concern are from 7-11pm and after 4am overnight, as lighter rain showers develop over the area. Sunday brings more showers and some isolated storms, possibly bringing some stronger weather. Damaging winds are possible, though this round of storms will peak before they reach our area.

Monday will be the brunt of the storms for our area over the next 48 to 72 hours. Strong to severe storms are likely, with wind damage being a main concern. Hail and flooding are possible, and an isolated spin-up cannot be ruled out. Make sure to stay informed with us on Facebook and YouTube and have multiple ways to receive warnings as the stronger weather comes through.

Tuesday finally gives us a break, albeit brief, from the rain. Mostly sunny skies and warming temperatures make the day pleasant and gives us a buffer between rounds of rain. Wednesday starts us off once again with some pop-up showers, though they won’t be too disruptive overall.

The next frontal system slams into the state, though it will not be as strong in our area. The northern part of the state will see more rain and more storms, but we will see showers with an isolated storm or two through the day. Friday and Saturday continue the rainy trend as more rain comes through the area, causing some flooding issues for low-lying areas across the state. This flooding potential is due to the long-lasting rain, and is mainly for low-lying areas or vulnerable areas including creeks and streams as of now.
