Breeze Airways says welcome to New York with it’s new flight path out of Charleston

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY)- Get ready; West Virginians have a new and easy opportunity to say, “Welcome to New York.”

Breeze Airways announced this week that they will have a new non-stop route from Charleston to New York. People can fly into the area starting on November 14th.

This is in addition to the other 17 new routes that will start later this year and into 2025. These flights will be every Thursday and Sunday. It will specifically go into Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey, just outside of New York City.

In his press briefing this week, Governor Jim Justice mentioned this new flight path.

“You know, it doesn’t seem like my dream trip, but, to be perfectly honest, if we’re going to be able to go into Newark and get into the New York City area and everything. There’s a lot a lot of folks that this would be very beneficial too,” said Justice.

Breeze will be offering the fights starting at $49 each way. Breeze Airways prides itself on being a low-cost airline offering point-to-point services to underserved areas in the U.S.

A Breeze Airways spokesman explains that Breeze is doing this because it’s what the public wants.

“We started out of Charleston about a year and a half ago, I think. Now, we’ve been flying to Myrtle Beach, to Orlando, to Tampa. People are loving it, but we kept hearing, you know, we’ve got no nonstop to New York,” said Gareth Edmondson Jones, Breeze Airways spokesperson. “And Breeze is all about connecting cities that don’t have nonstop service now. And so we don’t look to compete with other airlines on big routes. We think, okay, there’s demand here, and people are having to fly through a hub to get there. So that’s a natural route for Breeze. And so, that’s when we connect the two, which has been very successful.
