CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – After consultation with Gov. Jim Justice, Director Stephen McDaniel has appointed Brad Reed as the new chief of the Parks and Recreation section of the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources (WVDNR).
Reed is a 31-year veteran of the West Virginia State Parks system. Since 2015, he served as deputy chief of West Virginia State Parks. He fills the post left vacant by the retirement of Sam England in late 2019.
“Brad has a track record of actively working to advance our park system, promote our programs and support our hardworking park associates,” said Director Stephen McDaniel, WVDNR. “With the support of Governor Justice, we will continue to provide our visitors with opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty and outdoor recreation in our state.”
Reed earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Marshall University in Parks and Recreation Management. During his career, he has served in eight West Virginia state parks. For 20 years, he was a field superintendent at Tu-Endie-Wei, Babcock, Canaan Valley Resort and Cacapon Resort. He also served as district manager over cabin and vacation state parks.
