Last week, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, along with other U.S. senators, introduced the Bipartisan Pregnant and Postpartum Women Treatment Reauthorization Act.
This would allow grant residential treatment programs for pregnant women and new mothers to receive residential aid for substance abuse disorder.
The legislation would also allow funding to enhance substance use disorder treatments for those who need it, help prevent substance use disorder, and help with the recovery process.
Other resources the mothers could use are parenting classes, mental health counseling and harm reduction interventions.
