Big Time Snow Totals Occurred For Some – Warm-Up Coming Soon

Snow will continue to linger through the evening and into the overnight hours. Not much more accumulation is expected compared to what we have already picked up across the region, although 1-3 inches can still be expected for parts of Nicholas and potentially the higher elevations of Fayette County!
Here are the snow totals that have been sent through the National Weather Service as of 6 PM Monday. Nicholas County is the big winner in our area, but higher snow totals have been observed in parts of Webster County. If you all have some pictures with snow totals, please feel free to send them to us!
After this storm passes, we have more storms to track, but due to warmer weather, this appears to be MOSTLY rain. 1-2 inches of rain look to fall throughout the majority of our region, but it still isn’t clear exactly where the heaviest of that rain falls. The NWS has put our southern counties under a marginal risk of exceeding flash flood guidance on Tuesday. This region is from southern Raleigh through Tazewell Counties. The Flash Flood threat could be slightly elevated due to the quick warm up to near 50 and the rain falling could lead to some rapid snowmelt across the region.
I said “mostly” rain, because some rain/snow could mix for a couple hours early Wednesday morning.
By the time we hit Friday, we will start to dry up. Temperatures on Saturday could reach near 60 for some, while we remain dry through the weekend!
