Beckley Police Department reminds community about local fireworks laws and safety practices ahead of 4th of July celebrations

Beckley, WV (WOAY) As Independence Day celebrations approach, the Beckley Police Department is reminding residents to follow local fireworks laws and safety practices.

According to the Beckley municipal code, fireworks are permitted on July 4 between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., as long as they are discharged responsibly.

Officials remind residents that users must be at least 18 years old, clean up any debris left behind, and may be held responsible for any fire suppression fees if an incident occurs.

Fireworks may not be used from a motor vehicle and cannot be discharged from any public street, highway, or sidewalk.

The Beckley Police Department encourages everyone to celebrate safely, respect their neighbors, and help keep the community safe this holiday.
