Fall colors starting to show in SWV

Beckley, WV (WOAY) We have finally reached October, and that means the trees are finally starting to show their fall reds and yellows.

According to West Virginia Tourism, southern West Virginia should see its peak foliage colors in late October to early November.

Visit Southern West Virginia director Lisa Strader says that she hopes this year’s rain will mean vibrant colors that last through the whole season.

“I would recommend everybody get off the beaten path, you know, get into the woods a little bit…to get off on a back road or to visit some of our small towns, and then you really get into the good stuff.”

Strader says the views aren’t exclusive to hiking trails and back roads…

“Even our highways are beautiful. I mean, you can drive down 64 and 77 and you see the trees. You can you know, you go cross rivers on our bridges…It can be a driving tour, or if you have the capability and want to get out and be on the trails, both work.”
