Beckley creates virtual-guided walking tour of city landmarks

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – The City of Beckley is creating a personal walking tour for citizens to have an extra thing to do by themselves or with their families.

The tour features various landmarks scattered around the city, each with historical and cultural significance. The director of Beckley Events, Jill Moorefield, says each day they are adding new locations to the tour, and she hopes it provides some relief during this difficult time.

“Today we’re gonna do some along Leslie C. Gates, we’ve got some on the trail and different parts of town. Jim maker Square, around the courthouse, different sites where the murals have been painted. Just something different so people can see there’s a lot of different things to see in Beckley. They can come and do the tour on their own sometime, walk around,” Moorefield said.

The tour is being updated on the Beckley Events Facebook page and it’s encouraged for partakers to social distance when on the tour.
