Beckley Art Center Director discusses ways to support local artists during this time

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Artists, especially at the local level, have really taken a hit because of the COVID-19 outbreak as people can no longer gather in groups for live shows or exhibits.

Robby Moore, executive director of the Beckley Art Center, says the best way to support them right now is to do so on social media as many artists have taken to Facebook Live to perform and show their works.

“A lot of artists, especially the musicians, they have their PayPals and so you can tip them live and you can still buy their music of course,” Moore said. “And then with artists, you can buy their work and support them that way.”

Moore also said he is proud of the way the art community has adapted during these times.
