CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY)- The marching band competition season that we have been covering has come to a close as this weekend in the Governor’s Cup Marching Band Invitational finals.
The bands in our viewing area made up about half of the bands in competition as we had 13 high school bands from our area competing in the finals.
Wyoming East, Liberty, Pikeview, Greenbrier East, Summers County, James Monroe, Shady Spring, Bluefield, Westside, Greenbrier West, Princeton, Woodrow Wilson, and Richwood all competed for awards in their respective classes and divisions. There was a variety of shows and music that these bands performed.
They also held a miss majorette contest and the drums at the capitol competition that bands competed for. In total there were over 30 bands in competition.
Bands compete for different class awards such as band, auxiliary, percussion, color guard, and drum major.
We had to leave before competition ended so we do not have the scores to share with you tonight.
However, if you’re a band director in our viewing area and wish to share scores that your band received, please email me at the email address below.

I would love to share your achievements on this page as I have done all season long.
