Arson suspect arrested following two structure fires in McDowell County

Elkhorn, WV (WOAY)- The West Virginia State Police (WVSP) have a suspect in custody accused of committing arson in McDowell County.

WVSP states on Monday, November 11, Trooper E.C. Nunn responded to an emergency call reporting a structure fire at the Elkhorn Headstart building.

The caller reported seeing a suspicious individual leaving the scene of the fire.

Authorities later identified the suspect as 19-year-old Anthony Bale Scott.

Scott reportedly left the area after allegedly igniting the first fire.

Trooper Nunn reportedly located Scott after he allegedly returned to set fire to a second building in the area.

Scott faces two counts of second-degree arson.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
