ALDERSON, WV (WOAY) – Many people throughout Alderson suffered damage to their homes due to the flooding this past weekend. While some may be used to a little bit of water infiltration, many who got hit felt that they were plenty far enough from the river to be in danger.
“Devastating, that’s for sure,” said Alderson resident Lora Pyles. “We’ve never had flood-waters like this up here. We’re up on the hill, kind of so to speak, out of the flood zone. So, um, we sometimes do get a little wetness in our basement, but our basement was completely full. Our deep freezer was floating up to the main floor of the house.”
Clean-up efforts are well-underway throughout Alderson.
