After May’s grand jury gets cancelled, Raleigh Co. prosecutor looking to reschedule for July or double up in September

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Grand jury in Raleigh County typically meets in January, May and September.

Because grand jury calls for so many people to be in the same place at once, the Supreme Court cancelled the May session.

Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Keller says her office is looking to possibly reschedule for July or just double up in September.

“I’ve advised all law enforcement agencies that the grand jury wouldn’t be meeting in this early May, but I invited them to keep submitting reports, keep them coming, so we have now have crates and crates and crates,” Keller said.

According to the new guidelines from the Supreme Court, grand jury proceedings can begin again on June 15.
