WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): The morning has been filled with rainy weather and some ice falling in Greenbrier and Pocahontas counties, making for an inconvenient commute this morning. Showers will continue to be scattered as the day goes by, making for a damp and gloomy day. The group of showers will eventually dissipate tonight and slowly dry up in time for Christmas Eve travel. Speaking of Christmas Eve, mostly cloudy skies will stick around with temperatures in the mid-50s. This will be the last fully dry day for a little while as the region will experience multiple systems passing through from Christmas until next week.
Christmas Day will start with another group of showers moving through the region early. This will bring on a “Wet Christmas” instead of the White Christmas many have been wishing for. As you open presents, watch movies, and go to church, rain will continue to fall through the day. On the bright side, this is perfect weather for a cup of hot chocolate and a Christmas movie marathon. Two back-to-back systems Thursday and Friday will ensure little to no dry weather is had across the region. Rainy days will continue from Christmas Day all the way until Saturday afternoon, where we will finally get a slight break from the rain. Even with the little break on Saturday, rain will come back overnight before the sun rises on Sunday.
Sunday will start off with a few isolated showers, but things will become widespread in the afternoon as the next frontal system moves through. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will pummel the region through the night before a change to snow is likely due to the cold air dropping in from the front along with cold air from the northeast. Temperatures will fall 20 to 30 degrees between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning, making for a much chillier start to the work week. Here’s your 7-Day Forecast:
