West Virginia (WOAY) With temperatures soaring across the Mountain State, AAA is reminding drivers that extreme heat can be just as tough on vehicles as winter weather.
The organization says high temperatures increase the risk of dead batteries, overheated engines, and tire blowouts, leading to thousands of roadside assistance calls each summer.
Before heading out, AAA recommends checking your battery, coolant, engine fluids, and tire pressure, while also packing extra water, snacks, and a charged phone.
If your vehicle breaks down, pull safely off the roadway, turn on your hazard lights, and stay inside the vehicle if it’s safe to do so.
Drivers are also reminded to slow down and move over for emergency responders and roadside workers to help keep everyone safe.
