HINTON, WV (WOAY) – It’s not too late to respond to the census, and a local FRC reminds you to count your kids, too.
REACHH says some families get confused about who should count the child as being a member of the household, especially in cases of shared custody or foster homes. Executive director Doris Selko says the answer is simple: count the child in the household where they sleep most often.
“If they’re living in your home, whether you’re a grandparent or a parent or a foster parent, you want to make sure that they’re counted,” said Selko. “They do that based on where they spend most of their nights.”
The population numbers counted in the census help with funding when it comes to schools and programs, including REACHH.
