BLUEFIELD, WV (WOAY) – The City of Bluefield is helping conduct a webinar hosted by Facebook.
The partnership with Facebook stems from Bluefield’s relationship with Intuit, who chose the city for a regional office last year.
The Bluefield Economic Development Authority’s Executive Director Jim Spencer says the webinar is just one of many free educational resources they offer, and is meant to educate business owners about the complexities of marketing.
“If you look at it nationally, there’s about 80% of start-up businesses that fail, and I think that a lot of that can be avoided. For example, you could be the world’s best plumber and still fail at business. Even though your skills and everything are great, but there’s other things to running a business like controlling inventory and your costs. So we want to set people up for success,” Spencer said.
The city has many partnerships with educators across the state and country, including Concord University, Bluefield State College, Santa Clara University in California and many others.
